The article discusses basic attributes of international legal personality, with an emphasis on individual s status in contemporary international law.

The question of who can be considered a legal entity within this branch of law is not answered by any generally accepted rule of international treaty law nor international customary law. Therefore the issue of subjects of public international bodies remains an object for science of international law; there are differences in opinions in this area. In this respect, the author presents basic opinion groups, and particular areas within which the marginal international legal personality of an individual is reflected. In addition to human rights and fundamental freedoms protection, the sphere of criminal responsibility for crimes under international law is included and so is the area of international investment protection.
